Penny Wars Are Coming!!!
Never heard of a penny war? Worried that someone might get hurt? Fear not! It is all for a good cause and we will not be throwing them at one other. However, knowing how competitive some of you are, it may just get pretty intense. The good news is, it all benefits the Heifer project, which helps people in need in other countries.
In a penny war, two or more groups compete to win a fundraising competition. Each group has a bucket for collecting coins or dollar bills. The value of any pennies collected by a group count positively toward that group's point total, while the value of other coins or dollar bills are subtracted. Hence, in a competition between Group A and Group B, a contributor who wants Group A to win will place pennies into Group A's bucket and nickels, dimes, quarters, or dollar bills into Group B's bucket.
At the end, a winner among groups is declared, and all the proceeds are donated to a specified charity, in our case the Heifer project.
So, we need you to dig through your couch cushions, empty your pockets, clean out your car (if it looks like mine, it could yield a lot!) and bring in your loose change. Involve your kids. Who doesn't love a treasure hunt?
Each of our MOPs tables will be competing against one another with the winner taking home bragging rights!!
Let the fun begin!!!
